Canon Alley, St Paul’s Cathedral: The hideout where the team meets Hunley (Alec Baldwin) is accessed by an unmarked door on Canon Alley. This narrow pedestrian alley runs down to St Paul’s Cathedral. It is a good place to take an unusual photo of the Cathedral.

Pennington Street Warehouse: The modern brick frontage hides an extensive underground vault. This is the Pennington Street Warehouse vaults, also known as The Rum Warehouse, located at Pennington Street, London E1. These vaults date back to 1806 and were used to store imported goods, including spirits, which gave the place its nickname. They are Grade II-listed and have been converted to art studio space and a filming location. The underground garage/armory beneath the pub in Hobbs & Shaw was also filmed here.

St Paul’s Cathedral and Addle Hill: Hunt runs down to St Paul’s Churchyard but enters St Paul’s Cathedral from the opposite direction. Walker, meanwhile, is seen walking along Addle Hill. This place was also seen in the 1997 biopic Wilde, where Stephen Fry plays the writer.

Inside St Paul’s Cathedral: Inside St Paul’s Cathedral, Hunt crashes a military funeral and then races up the spiral staircase called the Dean’s Stairs. These stairs were also seen in Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Hunt then enters the Whispering Gallery, a circular walkway around the inner base of the dome, 100 feet above the Nave. The gallery has strange acoustics where you can whisper along the wall and be heard on the other side.

Since someone fell from the Gallery in 2019, it has been closed to the public. It is worth checking if it has reopened with safety improvements.

Rooftop Chase: Hunt climbs out onto the roof of St Paul’s Cathedral. Tom Cruise did this stunt himself, though the safety harness he wore was digitally removed. Hunt then leaps between rooftops, though in reality, there is no building close enough to St Paul’s for such a jump. The rooftop chase scene was simplified for the movie.

Hunt runs across the glass roof of the Grange St Paul’s Hotel before jumping onto the roof of Baynard House, somehow vaulting over Queen Victoria Street. The Faraday Building is seen in the background. From here, Hunt runs across the rooftops of buildings on Queen Victoria Street until he reaches an office facing Blackfriars Station.

Blackfriars Station and Tate Modern: Hunt runs along the roof of Blackfriars Station while Walker walks along the platform beneath. Hunt then gets down from the roof and runs under the southern end of Blackfriars Bridge along the Thames riverfront walk leading to Tate Modern. Tate Modern, an art gallery, has appeared in many films, including Woody Allen’s Match Point and Alfonso Cuarón’s Children Of Men.

Walker is chased to the top of the old power station chimney, where a helicopter picks him and Lane up.

New Zealand

Muddy Creek Field, Otago: The Apostles have two bombs that need to be defused simultaneously. A tracker leads the team to ‘Kashmir,’ which is actually in New Zealand. The bombs are hidden in a medical relief camp run by Julia, Ethan’s former wife, and her new husband Erik. The camp was built at Muddy Creek Field on Rees Valley Road, Mount Earnslaw in the Otago region north of Queenstown on the South Island.

Centaur Peaks: As Walker tries to escape by helicopter, Hunt follows him. They fly over the rugged Centaur Peaks, a few miles northeast of the ‘camp.’ Hunt catches up with Walker’s helicopter and forces it to crash.

Norway

The sheer cliff face with its flat top where Hunt and Walker fight to the death is located in Norway. Preikestolen (Preacher’s Pulpit) is located northeast of Forsand and east of Stavanger in southern Norway. This rock formation, which stands 1,982 feet above Lysefjord’s northern shore, is a renowned tourist destination. It also appeared in the television series Vikings.
