Trivia and Facts
- Under the working title “Big Daddy”, this film was originally planned as a vehicle for Gary Cooper. However, due to Cooper’s terminal illness, Bing Crosby was brought in and the script was revised to match his capabilities.
- There is an inconsistency in the film regarding the age of the protagonist, Harvey Howard. At one point, it’s stated that he is 51 years old and graduated high school in 1929. However, he is registering for the college class of 1960, and if we do the maths, Harvey would have been 24 when he graduated high school which is not regular.
- The film was later remade as “Back to School” in 1986.
