Much of the film- including scenes from the fictitious town of ‘Greenbow, Alabama’, where Forrest Gump grows up- was shot around Beaufort, South Carolina. Trivia and Facts
- The famous bench scenes in “Forrest Gump” were shot in Chippewa Square, Savannah, Georgia. However, the actual bench now resides in the Savannah History Museum.
- Unlike many movies which use actual existing structures, the Gump boarding house and Jenny’s farmhouse in “Forrest Gump” were built solely for the purposes of the movie and were torn down after filming.
- The ‘Vietnam’ scenes in “Forrest Gump” were not actually filmed in Vietnam, but rather Fripp Island and Hunting Island State Park in South Carolina!
- The movie “Forsaken” was originally titled: The Cloth 2.
- “Forrest Gump” Curve, located in Grandfather Mountain of North Carolina, is named after the spot where Forrest Gump realizes he has company during his run. This spot is now signposted as such.
