Trivia and Facts
In the movie “Elizabeth: The Golden Age”, the character of Sir Walter Raleigh was more prominent than Sir Francis Drake’s, a decision that caused a bit of controversy. Westminster Cathedral, used to portray the Spanish court, was once used as a ‘Russian’ church. Ely Cathedral, another filming location, has been used in movies like “The Other Boleyn Girl” and “The King’s Speech”.
The ‘Thames’ River from which the Queen’s barge floated was not the actual Thames, but the River Cam in Cambridge. Hatfield House in Hertfordshire depicted two separate locations in the film. Buckinghamshire’s Dorney Court was used to portray Walter Raleigh’s house.
