- The actual Route 666 did exist. It ran from Gallup, New Mexico, to Cortez, Colorado. Most of its path crossed the Navajo reservation, passing Ship Rock and near the Four Corners, the only point in the US common to four states. Due to superstitious reactions to the number 666, it has been renumbered by the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
